do you have a heavy load

Heavy Load to Carry? Consider the Seashells

Are you carrying a heavy load? Does your heavy load mean a full calendar, non-stop activity, and no margin? Perhaps it's time to consider the seashells. Have you ever walked on a beach, picking up seashells as you go, discerning the most beautiful among them to add to your collection? The larger ones stand out as you approach, begging further investigation. The unusual ones beckon. The … [Read more...] about Heavy Load to Carry? Consider the Seashells

How to Wreck Your Life in 5 Hours or Less

Do you get enough sleep? A long time ago for an area business journal, I wrote a profile about a high-ranking executive who moved through her life at warp speed. I no longer recall her name and company, but I still remember her motto: I’ll sleep when I die. Even if we don’t come out and say it so directly, many of us act as if that’s our motto, too. I sure did. Until several years … [Read more...] about How to Wreck Your Life in 5 Hours or Less

Chased By Lightning

If I’m going to be running, something will be chasing me! That used to be my saying. And then popcorn season came. I had been going to the gym for a few months, and on the days I didn’t go to the gym I walked in our neighborhood for mental clarity and some extra cardio. I didn’t always love it, but I kept doing it. One afternoon, my boys decided to go out and sell Boy Scout popcorn in our … [Read more...] about Chased By Lightning

Coaching is a partnership between a trained, professional coach and a client who wants or needs to reach particular goals or boost their personal and professional potential. Image is of two people shaking hands in partnership

People typically have questions about health coaching, whenever I introduce myself as a coach. And often, depending on the time someone has to talk, the questions start out general and then move to the specific and personal. Perhaps you have a few questions yourself. So today, let’s take a look at some of these frequently […]

How have you been wanting to challenge yourself ph How have you been wanting to challenge yourself physically?

Being physically active can improve your brain health, help manage weight, reduce the risk of disease, strengthen bones and muscles, and improve your ability to do everyday activities.

But it's important to build in rest days, too. Taking regular breaks allows your body to recover and repair. Otherwise, you may risk overtraining and injury, or burnout. Rest days could mean chilling on the sofa or engaging in more active rest - taking a gentle walk, foam rolling, or practicing yoga.

What's your schedule of exercise, physical activity, and rest look like this week? What positive effects will that have in other areas of your life?

First, shelling them took me back more than a few years to when I would shell butter beans and black-eyed peas alongside my grandmother and look forward to our supper together. 💚 We all have memories and associations attached to different foods. What are some of yours? How do they show up in the choices you make around eating?

Second, these peas were delicious and simple, boiled for one minute and seasoned with real butter and salt. What a gift! It's garden season, y'all. What are you most looking forward to preparing for yourself this summer?
