Step 21: Go Drink a Glass of Water

Got a headache? Drink water. Think you're hungry? Drink water. Feel lightheaded, dizzy, or brain foggy? Drink a glass of water. Water may not fix your problem, but it's a good start. Because most of us don't get enough of it.  U.S. youth in 2005-2010 drank an average of 15 ounces of water per day, and U.S. adults drank an average of 39 ounces of water per day. That's according to the … [Read more...] about Step 21: Go Drink a Glass of Water

Step 20: Find Resources for Healthy, Easy Meals

Life gets crazy sometimes, and our intention to eat more healthy meals goes by the wayside. And so it becomes easy to just grab fast food, takeout Chinese, or something processed and already made from the grocery store. But then maybe we feel guilty. Love the Food that Loves You Back

Love food that loves you back. Which foods nourish your body, mind and spirit? Once upon a time I loved Reese's cups; my in-laws even bought me a 36-pack of them one year for Christmas. I loved pastries, fried dough at the state fair, and ice cream. But then, a few years ago, I started learning about the impact of food on my overall health and well-being. And I started paying closer attention to … [Read more...] about Love the Food that Loves You Back

How have you been wanting to challenge yourself ph How have you been wanting to challenge yourself physically?

Being physically active can improve your brain health, help manage weight, reduce the risk of disease, strengthen bones and muscles, and improve your ability to do everyday activities.

But it's important to build in rest days, too. Taking regular breaks allows your body to recover and repair. Otherwise, you may risk overtraining and injury, or burnout. Rest days could mean chilling on the sofa or engaging in more active rest - taking a gentle walk, foam rolling, or practicing yoga.

What's your schedule of exercise, physical activity, and rest look like this week? What positive effects will that have in other areas of your life?

First, shelling them took me back more than a few years to when I would shell butter beans and black-eyed peas alongside my grandmother and look forward to our supper together. 💚 We all have memories and associations attached to different foods. What are some of yours? How do they show up in the choices you make around eating?

Second, these peas were delicious and simple, boiled for one minute and seasoned with real butter and salt. What a gift! It's garden season, y'all. What are you most looking forward to preparing for yourself this summer?
