Lavender often is someone’s first exposure to essential oils.
Calming, cleansing, and restful, lavender has been used for centuries by people of all ages. This oil supports the respiratory, skin, immune, muscular, and glandular systems of the body. Its gentle healing abilities make it effective for use on burns and other skin conditions. And lavender also is among the most widely used essential oils for emotional support.
I’ve seen people use it to improve:
- Headaches
- Insomnia
- Insect bites
- Acne and eczema
And that’s only the beginning.
Why use essential oils?
Sometimes, people don’t want to reach for another pill. They want something more close to nature, more grounding.
And essential oils can be that something.
The oils work in conjunction with good nutrition. Together, they give the body the support it needs to heal itself. And the options extend far beyond lavender and blends containing it. Essential oils can help you turn your medicine cabinet into a health cabinet.
Do you want healthy, non-toxic options for your family?
Other benefits
Maybe you think you don’t like lavender, or other scents. So that’s likely because you’re most familiar with synthetic scents often used in many candles, air fresheners, and other household products. Essential oils are different. Their scents come from the essence of the plant. That essence is gently extracted by steam distillation or other methods appropriate to the plant. Some plants carry their oils in the leaves or flowers, while others carry them within their rinds or seeds.
Depending on the essential oil, you may experience:
- Assistance for your physical body. Respiratory congestion and allergies ease. Digestive discomfort subsides. Muscles relax.
- A boost for your mind and spirit. Mood elevates. Mental focus and clarity improve. Anxiety and mental overwhelm subside.
- Support for your physical surroundings. Spaces clear. Cleaning products are homemade and healthier. Toxin exposure lessens.
Proper use of essential oils
The key is to use essential oils in the right ways and quantities. Used too frequently, in excess quantities and otherwise improperly, an essential oil can work against the benefit you’re trying to achieve. So proper education is important, as is using a high-quality (and often higher cost) oil.
