3 Questions I’m Constantly Asked about Coaching

People typically have questions about health coaching, whenever I introduce myself as a coach. And often, depending on the time someone has to talk, the questions start out general and then move to the specific and personal. Perhaps you have a few questions yourself. So today, let's take a look at some of these frequently asked questions about coaching, and some answers. We'll start with the … [Read more...] about 3 Questions I’m Constantly Asked about Coaching

Mind-body practices such as meditation, yoga, and focused breathing help stimulate the vagus nerve and the parasympathetic nervous system.

Mind-Body Practices to Complete the Stress Cycle

Mind-body practices strengthen our parasympathetic nervous system, which tells us to relax after a threat is past. And when this system operates effectively, we complete the stress cycle. We relax. But what happens when chronic or severe stress prevents that "rest and digest" system from kicking in? Over time, it can harm our health. Research indicates that our thought patterns and … [Read more...] about Mind-Body Practices to Complete the Stress Cycle

This is Your Brain On Stress

Stress sometimes gets a bad rap. Most of the time, we think of stress as something negative, and it can be. Stress can lead to a host of health issues including heart disease and cognitive decline. But other types of stress can deliver benefits, including to your brain. Defined in part as a physical and mental reaction to life's experiences, stress affects all of us. But not in the same ways … [Read more...] about This is Your Brain On Stress

Your routine changes, as you juggle established priorities and new caregiving-related ones. And you want to be at … [Read more...] about Care for the Caregiver: Prioritizing Your Loved One and Yourself

COVID-19 highlights how we're all connected, and how we need to focus on self-care for all, all the time

COVID-19: It’s Time for Self Care for All

Even before COVID-19, I was a big advocate for self care. In my work as an integrative health coach, I encourage women especially (though hello guys, I see you and work with you too!) to take care of themselves, so they can continue to care for who and what’s most important to them. And now, from all angles, we’re all being asked to do just that worldwide. We must care well for … [Read more...] about COVID-19: It’s Time for Self Care for All

A Bredesen ReCODE coach helps people concerned about or living with cognitive decline implement lifestyle changes that are part of the Bredesen protocol. Colorful image depicts a brain with many synapses and activity

Recently I trained as a Bredesen ReCODE Coach, adding to my professional knowledge base and credentials as I look to help anyone concerned about their brain health. But my desire to prevent and reverse cognitive decline goes beyond a professional achievement. It’s deeply personal, too. About five years ago, someone close to me received a […]

How it started and how it's going. 🎨 Halfway t How it started and how it's going. 🎨

Halfway through facilitating the first "Creativity as Spiritual Practice" elective course @secondbreathcenter I find these images only partially representative of what we've been doing.

Not pictured, except in my memory and perhaps others', are images of Creative Ones gathering at tables and on benches to share their stories, narratives, fears, and dreams - and others listening intently. Of them creating together and reflecting on the experience. And supporting each other to nurture their creativity between classes. It's a beautiful thing to witness, and I'm so grateful to be in this space.

Alzheimer's is a women's health issue. 🧠 Of ev Alzheimer's is a women's health issue.

🧠 Of every three people in the United States living with Alzheimer’s, two are women.

🧠 Even factoring in women’s longer lifespans, they’re twice as likely as men to develop the disease.

🧠 Lifestyle changes such as improved sleep and nutrition, increased exercise and mental stimulation, and decreased stress and toxins, can help reduce a woman's risk of dementia.

If all of that seems overwhelming, focus on just one piece of the puzzle. What's one tiny step you can take to improve your cognition?
